Jose was first introduced to Crossfit in 2007 after having knee surgery. After one workout (the “300”), he was hooked. He started training in his garage with his family and some friends. He wanted to train the only way he knew would prepare him for his career as a firefighter and the rest of his life. CrossFit Unleashed open doors in June 2008 with the goal of serving men and women of like mind, those who believe you should train as if your life and those around you depend upon it.
Jose is the founder and co-owner of Crossfit Unleashed. He completed his Level I Certification in 2008. Jose is a Firefighter/Paramedic with Tampa Fire Rescue. He has a wife, Kristen, and two kids, Giovanni and Adria. Jose also strives daily to keep Christ as his center.
Through his time as a Crossfit Level 1 trainer, he has been blessed to be able to see people reach their health and fitness goals and take that confidence to go and succeed within their career and personal life.
CrossFit has overflown into becoming his lifestyle rather than a sport or hobby, giving him a concept of perseverance by teaching him it’s not over just because it’s uncomfortable. CrossFit took what he thought of determination, confidence and respect to a level he didn’t think to be possible.
Be safe, listen to your body, adapt but never give up- you only have one chance.
As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.

Macho is a father, firefighter, Co-owner & Coach at Crossfit Unleashed. He found Crossfit in 2008 after being bored of the “Global Gym” style training and has been dedicated to it ever since. He’s passionate about helping people reach their fitness goals and an overall wellness. Crossfit has given him the strength, stamina and will power to push on and finish the task at hand, especially in a job such as Firefighting that demands so much from a person’s body, mind, and soul.

Macho is very active and has played sports his whole life, and continues to play. Offered scholarships out of high school to play division II football, he decided to stay in town and attend USF where he received his Bachelors Degree in Communications. Always knowing he wanted to help people, he attended the Fire Academy and began his career. Finding crossfit has opened another avenue to help people in which he has always been passionate about, “The Sport OF Fitness.”

What do you like about Crossfit?

“I like the fact that it pushes you to your limits. It’s never easy but makes everything such as real life situations that much easier. It’s a sport and I love competition, but it’s also a great community of people.”

What do you like about coaching?

“I love to see my athlete’s faces when they accomplish something they never thought they could. I think I get more excited about that than I do about things I accomplish. My athletes are why I love this so much. It’s not just my business, it’s another home. They’re not just my athletes, they’re my extended family.”

What would you say to someone who is scared to crossfit?

“You will never know unless you try. What’s the worst thing that can happen; you get in the best shape of your life? We only have one life and one body, prolong it, do Crossfit.”

Eddie discovered Crossfit in an attempt to improve his long distance running. After competing in numerous races, his times were not improving and boredom had set in – not to mention his knees needing a break from all the countless hours of pounding the pavement. After completing his first WOD, he was hooked! Eddie’s athletic background includes cross country running and high school wrestling. In addition to Crossfit, he loves doing anything outdoors including paddle boarding, mountain biking, and snowboarding. Eddie strongly believes in setting small goals and turning them into big accomplishments.

What do you like about Crossfit?

What I like about crossfit is the community! I love that you can go to the gym listen to some loud ass music, high five people and have fun all while getting a workout!
What do you like about coaching?
Its really cool when you help someone accomplish a goal! The first time someone does an unassisted pull-up, muscle up , or PRs on Clean and Jerk! Watching people get better, stronger, faster, and more mobile and knowing that you’ve help them in some way is an awesome thing!
